This work by the artist couple Maruki Toshi and Maruki Iri is a brutally honest depiction of the atrocities that followed the use of nuclear weapons in Japan. Jet black crows flock to bodies that are barely recognizable as human, creating a scene that is nothing short of hell on earth. If one examines the image closely, faces can be discerned from the stacks of corpses. To whom these faces once belonged remains unknown, but the reality of the horrors they faced are clear through the Maruki’s work.
