Description: The Jomon Vessel with Flame-like Orientation was a clay container from ancient Japan. The handles of the vessel form flame-like projections on the top of the vessel while curved lines form the bottom portion of the body. The rim is lined with flame-like or wave-like protrusions. The lack of a nozzle or something to pour liquid out of suggests that the vessel was more decorative. In addition, the material the vessel is made out of clay, suggesting that the owner of the vessel was probably more of a commoner given the abundant nature of clay compared with other materials such as precious metals.
